Camp
Schedule
A typical day at Calm Waters consists of three on-the-water rows, one
video session and three meals. In short, row, eat, row, eat,
row, eat, sleep.
In more detail, it looks like this:
| 7 a.m. |
Row, beginning with a talk and demonstration
on the dock; this session will also be videotaped |
| 9:30 a.m. |
Breakfast |
| 10:15 a.m. |
Video review session (With a large group, the video will
usually go over an hour) |
| 11:30 a.m. |
Second row, again begun with a talk and demonstration on the
dock before getting on the water |
| 2 p.m. |
Lunch |
| 3-4:45 p.m. |
Rest, relax, nap, swim, etc. |
| 4:45 p.m. |
Third row, no demo this time, just a chance to continue to
work on what was discussed
earlier in the day |
| 7:00 p.m. |
Dinner |
On arrival day, we will get out on the water that afternoon. We ask you
to be here between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. so there will be time to go over some
safety issues, get everyone outfitted with a boat and still have time to
row. On
the day of departure, we row as usual, have breakfast, go over the video and
then depart between 11 a.m. and noon.
While we are very much a technique-oriented camp, you’ll have
plenty of time over meals or after dinner to talk with John and Charlotte
about racing, training, erging or other issues. If there is
interest, we will offer a rigging talk and demonstration. If
you bring your own boat, we’ll be happy to look over the rigging.
At the end of the camp, you’ll be given your videotape as well as a sporty
Calm Waters Rowing polo shirt.
